The leaves are green, the apples are red...

Oh yes, it is apple time!
Today I made apple crumble!

Usually I make it sugar free, wheat free and dairy free.

This is my recipe:

about 8 to 10 apples  peeled, cored, and sliced apples (6 to 8 apples if they are huge apples!)

 freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 tablespoon water, apple juice, or pear juice

3 tablespoons brown rice syrup, corn syrup or honey

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Topping:

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup chopped  almonds (optional)
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

*1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

*1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

6 tablespoons of unrefined nut oil or sunflower oil

For the
 bottom of pan:

Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Lightly oil an 8 or 9 inch square baking dish. Toss apples with lemon juice, apple juice or water, sweetener, and cinnamon. Spread in

Top of the crumble ( on top of apples):

Mix oats, nuts, spices, and salt in a bowl by hand. Add oil to oat mixture and stir until completely combined. Cover apples with topping. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden. Serve with your choice of topping.

Makes 9 servings.
