If you go down to the woods today...(part two)

Be ready for a big surprise!

In Oxleas Woods yesterday the children and adults made lovely Fairy Houses!
A mix of materials was used, including leaves, sticks, logs, fern plant and acorns, stones and 'bamboo'-like sticks for fence!

The work took longer than expected and some children didn't want to leave the session until the work was completed! What dedication and passion.

The details are astonishing! little acorn cups, tiny beds/cots for the Fairies; houses divided into 'rooms' and areas such as entry lobby/garden/ bedroom, kitchen, play area, etc...
It was a joy to watch such passion and involvement!

Now we all hope to go back in September and see if the houses 'survived'. I have warned the children about continuous maintenance!

Have a look at their work!

First we looked for materials...

Leaves, stones and sticks..

-'Look what I have found, Susannah!'- and -'Come and see my Fairy house, Susannah'- was what the children kept saying!

Or...-'No, not, yet, it's not finished!'-

This is the roof I needed to rescue as it collapsed!

Matilda says that is where the little fairies play!

...and that is their bed...

leaves for carpet, smaller leaves for beds...

different size logs and sticks for doors, walls and roof - frames...

This was Anwen's and Juno with my help!

Other houses...
we made one for each tree!

watching the big girls at work; Morgana and Lauren were very busy!

discussing what next...

Will the roof blow away with the wind and rain...?

It looks strong enough!

yes, it does!

now the interior designers....

for the final touches...

everybody invited to see

the centre-piece!

And now the little ones inspired to embellish their own, one more thing to do there...

That's it...time to go now!

Dagmara calling Matilda for the last time!

Alma just ready to go back as Mammy promised her a hot chocolate at the cafe!

One last look at Anwen's...

time to go!
